Refurbishment of the Basement, Ground and 1st floors of Mulberry House to form The Responsive Diagnostic Assessment Centre (RDAC) whilst the 2nd and 3rd floors remained occupied. The works included
■ The construction of a new external lift shaft to the rear of the building.
■ Associated structural alterations – removal and infill works to the existing building to form new linking lift lobbies on all five levels, two of which were in occupied areas whilst works were being undertaken.
■ On completion of the new lift installation, the existing lift was removed and the shaft converted to a service riser duct for enhanced services infrastructure works.
■ Structural alteration works to reconfigure the front entrance area to give improved access and incorporating a new staircase up to 1st floor level, with a structural glazed enclosure.
■ Complete stripping out, refurbishment and fitting out of the Ground and 1st floors, including all new M&E services installations, together with the formation of staff areas in the basement.
■ Construction of a new external steel framed plant deck to the rear of the building at 1st floor level.
■ Maintenance of services, access and escape routes to the 3rd and 4th floors.
■ Enhancement works to the front elevation and entrance in Dovehouse Street, including a new canopy and Sto rendering enhancement.
